Rain or shine, Vancouverites know how to handle the wet season—usually by grabbing an umbrella. But this year, staying dry comes with a purpose. On November 8, Vancouver Firefighter Charities is back with its annual Umbrella Day, now teaming up with Z95.3 FM. Firefighter volunteers will sell VFC-branded umbrellas for $30 at five transit hubs across Vancouver, with all proceeds supporting VFC’s charitable programs, including Snacks For Kids, Toys For Kids, Sports For Kids, and Lifelines For Seniors. This year's Umbrella Day marks its eighth anniversary, and last year's event raised over $9,000.
“We’re thrilled to team up with Z95.3 FM this year to help us get the message out for one of the biggest fundraising events on our annual calendar,” says VFC Executive Director Eric Himmelman in a release. ”While we’re in the middle of rainy season, this event is a great way for everyone to help brighten the spirits of kids and families across the city who depend on our charitable programs.”
Catch the VFC team at the following locations on November 8 from 7am to 2:30pm: Waterfront Station (Cordova between Seymour and Granville), City Centre Station (Granville and Georgia), Burrard Station (Burrard and Dunsmuir), Yaletown Roundhouse (Davie and Mainland), and City Hall Station (Cambie and Broadway).
